Policy Rewired Presents...

The Rules You Don't See

A competition for immigrants to share their stories and uplift the voices of the vulnerable.

PROMPT:

Behind every immigration decision are rules most people never notice—forms that determine belonging, language requirements that exclude, deadlines that punish, and systems that quietly decide who gets to stay, work, or learn. These policies are often complex, hidden, and unevenly enforced, yet they shape millions of lives every day.

In this written piece, explore an invisible immigration rule or system and its real-world impact. You may examine paperwork, legal processes, language barriers, school or work restrictions, or other policies that operate out of public view. Consider who these systems serve, who they harm, and why they remain unseen. Use personal experience, community stories, or policy analysis to reveal how quiet rules can have powerful consequences.
